Hamsters are great animals for intermediate artists to practice their animal sketching. While hamsters' structure appears to be simple, they have specific defining features that can be perfected to make your drawing realistic. So grab a piece of paper and a pencil and let's get started!

Steps Download Article

  1. 1

Draw a circle. This will be the hamster's head.

  2. 2

Connect a large "U" shape to the bottom circle. This will be the hamster's body.

  3. 3

Erase the inner, lower portion of the circle which touches the body.

  4. 4

Draw two circles for the hamster's eyes.

  5. 5

If you want this to be a female hamster give it eyelashes.

  6. 6

Give the eyes pupils by coloring all parts in except for a little white circle towards the left of the hamsters face.

  7. 7

Draw a small upside down triangle below the eyes. Erase the top side to make the nose.

  8. 8

Draw an upper-case, cursive, "E", which has been rotated 90 degrees to the left, below the nose. This is the upper lip.

  9. 9

Draw a pointy "U" shape down from the "E" to make a mouth.

  10. 10

Draw three lines from the hamster's cheeks, which slope downwards. These are its whiskers.

  11. 11

Draw two large circles on top of the head to make ears.

  12. 12

Draw a line along the curve on the ear on the inside to give it some dimensionality.

  13. 13

Draw two "U" shapes to make hands on the main body. Give it some feet as well.

  14. 14

Add some details like tufts of hair, claws, or a nut to hold in its hands.

  15. 15

Color it in. You can color with squiggly lines to represent fur. Feel free to use two colors.
